　　預測一：besides/but/except/except for 表示 “ 除去 ”

　　(1)besides 表示 “ 除了 …… 以外，還有 ……”，它強調部分包括在整體之內。例如：

　　Besides his wife, his daughter also went to see him. 除了他的妻子外，女兒也去看過他。

　　(2)but(prep.)表示 “ 除了 …… 外 ”，相當于 except。but 常與否定詞及部分形容詞最

　　高級連用，后接名詞、代詞和不定式。例如：

　　I did nothing but write a letter this morning. 今天早晨除寫了一封信外，我什么都沒有做。

　　(3)except 表示 “ 除 …… 以外 ”，強調從整體中除去一部分，后可接名詞、代詞或從句。

　　多指對同類事物的排除。例如：

　　Everyone is at school today except Lin Tao. 除了林濤外，大家都到齊了。

　　(4)except for 表示 “ 除了 …… 外，只 ……”。它強調從整體中排除一部分，是對主語的

　　內容起到修正的作用，一般針對非同類事物。例如：

　　Your composition is very good except for a few spelling mistakes. 你的作文寫得很好，除了幾

　　處拼寫錯誤。(composition 與 mistakes 不同類)

　　預測二：across/through/over/past 表示 “ 通過、經過 ”

　　(1)across的含義與on有關，表示動作是在某一物體的表面進行的，從一邊到另一邊。例如：

　　It took them six weeks to walk across the great desert. 他們花了六周時間才走過那個大沙漠。

　　(2)through 的含義與 in 有關，表示動作是在某一物體的空間里進行。例如：

　　We can’t travel through the forest by road. 我們不能通過公路穿過森林。

　　(3)over 表示動作在某物體的上方進行，意為 “ 越過 ”。例如：

　　Then we took off over a part of forest. 隨后我們的飛機起飛了，飛過部分森林上空。

　　(4)past 意為 “ 從 …… 旁經過 ”，表示運動發生在某物旁邊。例如：

　　The crowd of people walked past the City Hall to the Center Square. 這群人走過市政廳到達中心廣場。
